Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #32]

That opening for Ultimate Blast really does go to show just how terrible Yamamuro is. Kei suspects that he directed the opening for Dragon Ball Kai: The Final Chapters and it really pales in comparison. It doesn't help that Yamamuro later tried to pull off Nagamine-style storyboarding for the fight...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #32]

For me, the animation and art in the Ultimate Blast intro is how modern Dragon Ball should be. It had wonderful colors, animation, shading and it gave some really good camera views, Yes, I know it's a game opening compared to an episode of an anime (which has a way shorter time limit to make) but it...

Whatcha mean? He's still around. He worked on Resurrection 'F' (the final Kamehameha) and episode 1 of Super.
Good :) I was afraid he was gone.

Most of the time that seems to be the case. Maybe that's the reason why we don't see any of the older animators in Super.

Re: Rounder style vs Angular, sharp style

23rd TB arc - Freeza is the best looking in the manga. The Freeza arc was really when Toriyama went all out with the characters and the art. In the anime though they had some really awkward art. They also had some good moments too. It was in this arc when people like Maeda and Shimanuki really bega...

Re: Rounder style vs Angular, sharp style

I just want the right portions of the series to look like they did in the manga, whenever they're animated. Flashbacks to early DB where Goku looks like Goten confuse and astound me. Didn't GT do that a lot? I know the new movies have some really terribly animated flashbacks. It really shows how so...

Re: Rounder style vs Angular, sharp style

Manga: Rounder style Anime: Angular, sharp style Toriyama became increasingly lazy on the details after the Saiyan Saga but the anime thrived on his unique style and became more detailed in art as the series progressed. Same. I always felt that some animators understood his style, adapted to it eas...

Rounder style vs Angular, sharp style

During the course of the Dragon Ball franchise we've seen many different animators and artists with many different styles. Some go for a rounder look to the characters while others go for a more sharp style to the characters. I wanted to create this thread so we can discuss which one did you like th...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #32]

I like Yamamuro to, but I can definitely see why some don't like him, I think he's better suited for other series, as his eye level style isn't suited for DBZ style fighting, but I love his on model character designs. For me his designs are a little too round. Rounded styles seemed more suited for ...

Re: Super Animation Catalogue - [Updated with #32]

If Yamamuro could tweak his models a bit and have more fluid animation, he could be really good. But there still more to change even then. The facial proportions are still bad and not to mention the shading.

Re: Why was the acting so good in the 3 movies?

I noticed that the acting in the 3 movies done by the ocean is pretty good compared to the actual series. Does anyone share this opinion and have an answer? Yes and yes. Here's the thing...it's my belief that actors get way too much flack for things that are not entirely their fault. They're not fa...

I don't like it when people say that Akira Toriyama should animate better. I'm not even joking people actually say that.

Re: Favorite Ocean/Westwood Goku Actor

I wonder if we ever will get an Ocean Kai. A man can dream. Seriously though, I really want to see the Ocean dub of Kai but it really doesn't seem likely at this stage when Funimation's dub has been both broadcast and released on home media in Canada/UK/Ireland. To my knowledge Canada hasn't had a ...
