Re: Why are most people complaining about Funimation's 16:9 cropping in DBZ but not Toei's 16:9 cropping in DBZ Kai?
I've never seen Kai cropped (except for the Boo arc, of course), but I recall that I laughed about how Kai was shaping up like a mix of Funimation's treatment of Z: replacement score, cut out scenes, censorship, cropping. What's also hilarious is that out of the many Toei IP's to get the hack job t...

They were the ones who set the example like the amateurs they were. And then somehow or other it rubbed off on Toei.
Simple as that, really.
The home release of the latter (Dragon Boxes) didn't feature any such cropping though. If they did, that would be a massive cause for complaint too.

Re: Why are the English dubisms far too ingrained into the fandom?
Another thing I've rather quickly gotten to realize is that a much bigger problem than what "side" anyone happens to be on is people in general having little to no idea whatsoever just what exactly it is they happen to be talking about , which is one thing that contributes to a lot of circ...

Re: Why are the English dubisms far too ingrained into the fandom?
Mocking a corporation who makes shitty releases is not the same as mocking normal people. Well yes, but I thought that "anything" as it relates to the following post: a sub fan mocking something they don't like about the dub (music, dialog, acting) and a dub fan taking it as a personal at...

Re: Why are the English dubisms far too ingrained into the fandom?
But mocking anything is wrong, period. Pointing out what you dislike about something is fine, but that's where the line should be drawn. Over (a really short period of) time I've come to realize that this is the most sensible position to hold considering that it goes both ways, with the problems of...

Re: Furuya Tooru (Yamcha) Admits to Physically Abusing Woman He Had An Affair With
I don't think Furuya meant what he said. Seems like an alligator tears apology he wrote up so he could get the minimum punishment. Guy probably wrote it up in the hopes of saving his career and/or getting off with the smallest legal reprisal should his case go to trial. If he had remorse he wouldn'...

Re: Why are the English dubisms far too ingrained into the fandom?
This is equivalent to asking "Why is Shounen manga/anime the most popular among mainstream US audiences?". In other words, a question that probably doesn't require much looking in to in order to arrive at an answer. My whole problem with the discrepancy between sub and dub is that using co...

Re: Furuya Tooru (Yamcha) Admits to Physically Abusing Woman He Had An Affair With
In the case of Yamamoto, Toei fired him so they wouldn’t have to deal with any potential lawsuits. It should go without saying that what Furuya did is infinitely worse, but I don’t know if it’s enough to get him blacklisted in the industry. But still, they don't even mention his name anymore since ...

ok i'm talking with a stupid retard, if you read what i've said WHERE AM I SUPPORTED HIM? cause i've said that i don't see why he should be fired? EVERYWHERE i'm saying that he need to legaly pay but i'm smart enough to know that fired him is totally useless in that case if he want to rape again, w...

Re: Furuya Tooru (Yamcha) Admits to Physically Abusing Woman He Had An Affair With
Not even barring him from everything in this scene would be enough at this point. Proper photographic evidence has come up and it only hammers the nail even deeper. This is far beyond "case closed" (and no, I'm not referring to the localized name of Detective Conan before it somehow comes ...

Re: Furuya Tooru (Yamcha) Admits to Physically Abusing Woman He Had An Affair With
Based on the Vic Mignogna thread: Updates on the situation, people (like Joujou) trying to muddy the waters in support of the perpetrator, and people responding to both of those tend to lengthen threads like this. Right now it's mostly the latter two. In which case, I guess there's one thing to fil...

And in comparison to disgusting things like that that enforce EXTREMELY harmful negative depictions of blacks... yeah, Popo, Black, and Killa's lips, while absolutely stereotypical and not exactly a positive depiction by any means, are barely an issue. Something interesting about this sort of thing...

It does get confusing when Funimation has like 5 different themes for one series.

Makafushigi Adobencha Just a quick chime-in, not much point in romanizing loanwords in this manner, because, well, it's a loanword. As far as the question... haven't quite thought of it yet but that specific one is up there for sure. We Were Angels is about the only noteworthy ED that I have a pref...

Classical/Baroque/Romantic/etc-era references in Kikuchi's OST
When watching DB (and going through one of the YT playlists gathering each BGM), I was able to pick up on a few works like Beethoven or Chopin popping up in the very early episodes at times for brief sections. But then later on, you have stuff like M420 which is basically "Ride of the Valkyries...
