Re: Roshi's antics
I have to say I do find myself conflicted about Roshi nowadays. As a youngster watching originally I wasn't really "aware" of the serious implications of Roshi's lecherous behaviour and didn't pay much notice. I liked the character a lot and just viewed his gross perversion as a quirk. No...

Re: Roshi's antics
So what's the difference between Muten Roshi and those kinds of men? Muten Roshi does not exist, the Dragon Ball universe does not exist, the women in the Dragon Ball universe do not exist, and quite frankly the way that women react to Roshi's antics is not based on any kind of reality either. Gett...

Re: Roshi's antics
I'm on the side that all of those antics of Roshi's were terrible. The message is not that it should be censored or acknowledged with a disclaimer, but it is really disturbing to read how many people actually find nothing wrong with it. Because it's not meant to be taken seriously, it's a joke. For...

Re: Roshi's antics
I don't know how or why I have to explain why reaffirming rape culture is a bad thing. This is very frightening to read on my forum. I don't agree that a joke based on a pervert is "reaffirming rape culture", just like I don't think that a joke based on violence would be reaffirming viole...

Re: Roshi's antics
I don`t know, female viewers who likely at some point in their lifes have suffered or were about to suffer the same type of antics. There is no double standard in this context to me. Murder, genocide, beating up children who aren`t Chucky is all wrong but thanks to literal devices like in this case...

Re: Roshi's antics
It's a shame Home Alone 2 had to be so blithe about real issues though. The shame, I think, is when we can't separate what is not meant to be taken serious from which actually is serious. That's when humor dies and nobody can't joke about anything without others being on the lookout ready to "...

Re: Roshi's antics
given that his kind of behavior would be enough to get someone arrested in real life. Throwing a brick at a guy from the top of a building and hitting him in the head would probably kill him, and yet it's just a joke from "Home Alone 2". Jokes and humor ALWAYS feel inappropriate if you lo...

Imo, we shouldn't start trying to shut down humor just because we didn't found a particular piece of humor funny.WittyUsername wrote:Given that sexual misconduct has become a really hot-button topic these days, Roshi’s character as a whole doesn’t feel as funny as he used to be.

Re: Roshi's antics
It's humor. Humor revolves about wrong stuff, like a guy getting hit in the head with a brick thrown from the top of a building (Home Alone 2), which wouldn't be so fun in real life. What matters is the context and, just like in Home Alone 2, it's clear that it's not meant to be taken seriously. Tha...

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Pardon, but bringing up more people who share opinions similar to yours don't make you're right either. Of course not, but I would think that at least noticing the fact that all the other people that bothered to comment and said basically the same thing as me, disagreing with you, would make you re...

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Sorry, but that's what it is, mate. You usually have good points to defend this fan work from exaggerated criticism, but that's not one of those. So don't blame people for thinking you're might being biased. The points I brought up regarding this discussion were also good, logical and based on the ...

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
We all know here you tend to defend Multiverse a lot, but this is getting ridiculous, sorry. Yeah, right... That's exactly it... It couldn't just be that what you are saying doesn't make much sense, it's me that is "defending". What's up with people nowadays always accusing others ...

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
These were different moments and he still expressed desire to kill him anyway, but didn't do it knowing that wouldn't acomplish nothing since they had a common enemy. And here #16 still expressed desire to kill Goku but he hasn't done anything so far because #17 is already trying to kill Goku since...

And also here at 2:46 and 3:13 Granted, the middle panel isn't an EXACT 1:1 copy of those moments, but it's pretty clear the positioning of Goku and Gohan was at least copied and pasted together from a...

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
If nothing else, it seems like he prioritized spending time with his pals over taking the most efficient path towards Goku. He always did that, even in the official manga. He went along with #17's idea of travelling in a car instead of just flying and searching for Goku himself which would have bee...

Re: Net Neutrality and Dragon Ball
It's not a matter of whether the companies will do bad stuff for the consumers or not. Safeguards should be in place to prevent people and companies from doing it in case they feel like it in the future. This is basically how a great portion of law should work, it's not about the likelihood of the p...

Re: Net Neutrality and Dragon Ball
Internet access for a modern life is a matter of human rights. In modern life, it's essential for study, commerce, banking, policy, taxes, you name it. As such, it should be viewed as a matter of human rights and have adequate safeguards put in place, one of which is net neutrality. Thankfully, in E...

Re: Why Raditz never got a 2nd chance by Goku?
Goku gave him a chance when he let go of his tail. After that, the only thing Goku could do to stop him was hold him while Piccolo killed him.
