Re: The Cell Saga Is The Lowest Rated Saga?
It's entertaining to continually comb through this thread because I'm finishing up the Cell arc (Kai) with my friend who is new to DBZ and he doesn't care for it at all, at least compared to the previous arcs. His main flaws with the Cell arc are that things seem to get a bit boring for him with the...

Re: Vegeta the most evil?
Well, according to mainstream society I'd say that both Vegeta and Nappa are irredeemable characters. They kill for fun, love to inflict pain, and in general seem to be masochistic in their intent. However as Vegeta demonstrated throughout the series I don't think anyone in particular is irredeemabl...

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" On Blu-ray: News & Discussion
Which, I might add, no longer come with the books. It's a budget-conscious/environmental choice they make. I mention that too before. I'm surprised FUNimation haven't yet started using DVD fat-packs for the newer copies of the Blue/Orange/Green Bricks as it's a lot cheaper than using Paper Boxes, p...

Yesssss. Do you have the numbers for One Piece to compare?Hujio wrote:The numbers are in and this episode of Kai pulled an average household rating share of 7.2%. Last week's episode was 5.3%.
I hope it continues to rise, even if only by a little. Or at least stay somewhat consistent.

Re: Have you ever lost interest in the franchise?
I just wanted to add that with the reemergence of Dragon Ball Kai it has never been harder to lose interest in the franchise! I'm glad that it's back on the tube, and can't wait to check out Funimation's dub of it in the next year or two.

For anyone interested in seeing more comparisons between the audio we have now and the original broadcasts please check out this thread: http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=18506 I can't find the thread at the moment, but Kei was in the process of sending a copy of his tapes to C...

Re: Is DBZ the anime equivlent of a Michael Bay movie?
Well, I'd certainly say that the equivalency is best placed on the Cell arc. For me, the Saiyan-Freeza arcs are when DBZ shines brightest. The plot is intriguing, the cast of characters is well rounded, and there is some really great character interactions and acting taking place. But when you get t...

Re: Kai Episode 100 (13 April 2014)
Hmmm, this sounds interesting. So, do you think us few fans who actually like the US scores would like Sumitomo's work? Hell no, the US score is a million times better than this crap. Bring back Yamamoto. Was really surprised to see this Dinosaur episode still in Kai.. it should have been completel...

How am I speculating when it is stated that he was sent as an infiltration baby for his safety? Because that's not stated. It's never stated. You're conflating two completely different lines of dialogue said by two different people who had two different sets of knowledge and motivation. And yet for...

Re: Bardock TV Special vs Dragon Ball Minus
Father of Goku is head and shoulders above Dragon Ball Minus. From the story, to the themes covered, to the way that they connect to the larger DB universe. I've made my feelings known over and over again already, so I'll just say that Minus has really irked me because it covered something that I fe...

Re: Dragon Ball Z "Seasons" On Blu-ray: News & Discussion
I bet this question has been asked before, but to anyone who has these blu-ray sets so far. Do you think these sets are better than the orange bricks? Yes they are indeed much better than the orange brick set. The English audio has never sounded better, and the same goes for the Japanese audio as w...

Great job Gaffer Tape at articulating everything I wanted but was too angry to say myself. Great job on all your points, and I'm so glad you took the time to make your thoughts known on this. I don't think anyone has seriously mentioned it, but the general idea has been postulated before.bkev wrote:...who the fuck said anything about a 3D release?
It is a bad prediction though, 3D has gone by the wayside these last few years (both in theaters and in home media releases).

Agreed! I would rather take a cheaply produced version of DBZ that cuts all the filler out than a big budgeted filler adaptation.sintzu wrote:No matter how bad it is (it's not) anything is better then sitting through all that filler

Well I personally hope to god that we don't get something like that. But I guess at this point anything is possible, so I wouldn't rule it out.
But realistically it would seem like a small chance overall. Burdock has already been explored well enough, no need to overkill it.

Re: Barry Watson vs Yukio Nagasaki - who "damaged" series mo
Well, I'm of the opinion that what Barry Watson "did" to DB is what was needed at that time. I really don't believe that DBZ would have been as successful as it is today (in America) without the music changes, the horrible Americanized and unfaithful dub, and many other seemingly terrible ...

Re: Should Norihito Sumitomo go back and re-score Kai?
Yeah, I find the whole concept of going back and re-scoring Kai to be just a huge waste of time. The recycled Kikuchi score isn't enough to bug me for the three episodes that it is present in. I guess for those that are stuck with an American release, or a recent release, where the Yamamoto score ha...

Re: Why Were Villains Handled So Poorly in DBZ?
Going from Freeza's complete lack of personal backstory and repetitive fighting to Cell's lack of a goal and boringness to Buu being an annoying brat in some forms and bland as hell in others, why did Toriyama seem to just not try with the villains in DBZ? I understand that DBZ isn't story heave at...

Even though I'm not a fan of Dragon Ball Minus, I have to say that it's nice to have something new to talk about in the DB universe. It's great to see the variety of reactions, on either side. Re: Kai Episode 99 (06 April 2014)
Listening to the ending song again, it seems like an easy song for FUNimation to dub. Also, during the ending, I personally don't like that group shot of everyone banged up and struggling, that is way overdone in anime openings/endings. Even though it might be overdone in anime in general, I though...
