Re: Why the dub for Z is inferior to Kai

What's wrong with, Tien, Master Roshi, and Chi-Chi? Those voices are actually pretty solid in my opinion. Tenshinhan's pretty good, I can agree to that. He's no Suzuoki, but he gets the job done in both the DB and Kai dubs. The Turtle Hermit.....eh. The voice is too one dimensional and goofy, only ...

Agreed. That's one of the best casted English dub voices for any Dragon Ball related. The Z dub screwed up what is, quite literally, one of the franchise's most infamous characters. You screw that up, you're done.

Re: My Greatest Concern Regarding DBS (the REAL issue)

Really? Do you really think so? I don't think these scenes top Vegito vs Zamasu, but I do know some Yu Yu Hakusho Scenes that do. Like Hiei vs Zeru or maybe Yusuke vs Yomi <- maybe I'm biased because I really love Yomi. Heck even Yusuke vs Sensui when he transforms into Mazoku looks better. I'm jus...

Re: My Greatest Concern Regarding DBS (the REAL issue)

Woah now, the fight scene was good, but you are giving it WAY too much praise. There are tons of incredible fight scenes from different animes that completely trump that scene. One Punch Man in particular has a fight every single episode I believe, and every single one of those fight scenes are 100...

Ayres never, Young forever At the very least, explain why you disagree with the thread's original premise and actually give reasons as to why you dislike Ayres's performances. Ain't no one saying you can't like it, but at least explain why you do instead of just making short one-liner posts like th...

Re: Does anyone here watch Kai in Japanese?

Yeah, I've watched it in Japanese before, and I'm actually one of the few that likes it quite a bit. There's some really good performances in there and the shortened length is what I'm used to.

Re: Non-thread-worthy discussions

Does anyone else here have a soft spot for the Kikuchi placement in Kai? I know it's considered to be not as good as the original placement and it does get repetitive, but I don't think it's all that bad. Part of it is due to nostalgia I guess since that's the first score I ever heard in anything Dr...

Is one REALLY more "correct" than the other?[/quote]
One's definitely more logical. Vegito makes hardly any sense. Vegetto, at the very least, could be explained by Kakarot originally being Kakarotto instead.

Dale Kelly's Ginyu?

What are you guy's thoughts on Dale Kelly's Ginyu? It's one of the lesser voices talked about when people discuss the old dub, so I thought it'd be a good topic. Surprisingly, I think it's one of the few performances of the old dub that actually isn't half bad. There's plenty of hammy lines to go al...

It's less of how it sounds in it's relation to the original and more of how it relates to the character itself and the effectiveness of said character.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" FUNimation Dub Official Discussion Thread

He sounded more like Nappa. Btw I liked whoever is currently voicing Kid Trunks, she sounds better than Laura Bailey, Gotenks now sounds likeable too. Eh, I don't hear it. But his Whitebeard voice sounds nearly 1:1 with it. As for Trunks, yeah, Alexis Tipton is his new voice actress. She's pretty g...

Re: Does anyone have a problem with how Fat Boo sounds in FUNi Dub?

The fact Buu sounds and acts like a child is what makes him scary, it is exactly the same as Zen-Oh, a super mega powerful god yet looks and sounds like a child. I don't agree. Looks? Sure. Voice? Not at all. Buu's voice adds that last layer that makes him creepy IMO. It all vanishes if you just ma...

I never had a problem with Fat Buus dub voice. I really like it actually. I agree, it adds more to character he is a fat pink blob with incredible power him sounding childish and annoying really works. I personally don't really see how it adds to his character. If anything, it really takes a lot aw...

Re: Voices sounding age appropriate?

Masako Nozawa's adult Goku is not a problem in terms of age appropriateness. She pulls it off extremely successfully for a woman. However, I can't stand kid Trunks still being voiced by Takeshi Kusao because it makes me feel uneasy. You've got Goten with a typical little boy voice then this guy who...

Re: Unpopular DB opinions

I prefer the Japanese cut of the Buu arc to the Final Chapters. In terms of music placement, it goes back and forth for me, but I think the Japanese cut slightly edges it out. I prefer the Japanese opening and ending themes tbh. Kuu Zen Zetsu Go is great. And, while I know a lot of people say the Fi...

I'm loving the awesome buff look they gave Merged Zamasu. I ain't gonna lie, the moment when he rips his shirt off is pretty cool.

This chapter seems to have a quite a bit of grit to it too. You can really feel that everyone's falling apart, tired, and damaged to their max.

At this point, since the new one's out, I mainly just wanna see any scenes with Gohan in them. He's my favorite character for one and, to be honest, Kyle Hebert has been the absolute highlight for this dub by far IMO. I know he probably made Gohan sound awesome in his ultimate form. And, IIRC, didn'...

Re: Explain why you dislike retcons and want everything be unchangeably set on stone

Retcons are absolutely fine as long as they come naturally, the easiest example being when Goku turns out to be an alien. What doesn't work are things like Beerus being the one who ordered the destruction of the Saiyans, which irreparably devalues something important that came before it. Or DBM, wh...
