Guess whether it's the FUNimation or Crunchyroll branding, they still have the potential to fuck things up unecessarily somewhere with their releases, eh? Really sucks that you guys are having these problems.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

Hallelujah! It finally shipped! Thank you Crunchyroll for deeming me worthy enough of your gift! I am forever in your debt.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Crunchyroll Home Release Thread
1 thing I'm really surprised they didn't do for this release was have 5 cases with 4 discs each as opposed to the 10 cases with 2 discs. That would've matched the Z steelbooks better because that's how those were. Probably would've been cheaper to produce because there's less metal & plastic used, so they could've charged a little less for them. Granted, I'm just still surprised that they still haven't done season/collection rereleases for this series.

Well, Crunchyroll announced their January 2023 solicitations and still no Super Hero release date. But hey, they did announce a Yu Yu Hakusho 30th anniversary Blu-ray set with the new OVAs dubbed.
And learning from my bad experience with ordering the Super steelbook set, I'm NOT buying from Crunchyroll this time. Only reason I did last time was because a user suggested it and I paid for it, FIGURATIVELY and LITERALLY.

I assume the OVAs will also be available separately, since I have the show already.mecha3000 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2022 10:31 pm Well, Crunchyroll announced their January 2023 solicitations and still no Super Hero release date. It's really weird that they haven't announced a home release Super Hero. Hell, they haven't even announced one for One Piece Film: Red either. They usually release films they put in theaters on home media a few months after that.
Update on my DB Super set: I found out that the metal case that holds the steelbooks is lop-sided on its side rather than the bottom. Nothing big, but thought I'd say here.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Crunchyroll Home Release Thread
Well, everyone. Looks like Crunchyroll has FINALLY released Dragon Ball Super Season Sets (sort of):
Parts 1-2: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dragon-Ball- ... 1590423228
Parts 3-4: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dragon-Ball- ... 1513291459
Parts 5-6: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dragon-Ball- ... 1645751773
Parts 7-8: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dragon-Ball- ... 1617701945
Parts 9-10: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dragon-Ball- ... 1016758070
It's kind of annoying how they never mentioned this was releasing alongside the steelbook set. But I'm probably going to try to get them whenever I can because I prefer to keep my steelbooks in prisitine edition. And I was just going to grab Parts 1-10 when I found out about this. So, I guess Crunchyroll just isn't doing traditional season sets for Dragon Ball Super.
Honestly though, I really like the cover and designs (besides the red and orange only colors) on these "season sets" so I'll still try to get them whenever I can. After this, I think Crunchyroll is probably done re-releasing Super because they've already done the 13-episode part sets, now 26-episode "season" sets, and a complete series steelbook set. And I don't see them re-releasing Super a million times like they've done with Z. But then again, who knows with them? Speaking of which, I just ordered the UK 4:3 DBZ season sets and plan to get the Dragon Boxes someday (after already owning DB and GT), so I'm finally getting to the point where I'll have a satisfying Dragon Ball home media collection (at least as much as I can from Crunchyroll).

$36x5=$180, so a bit of a "pick your poison" kinda thing relating to the Steelbook set. Although, the fact that they didn't put out an official announcement, as well as the fact that they're Wal-Mart exclusive kinda makes it seem weird how they'd just shadow drop that shit. I honestly wouldn't have minded getting these if they didn't announce the Steelbooks, or these came out beforehand. Like, 26-27 episodes a pop for $36 on BR is really good value if you wanna get the episodes physically. It's just weird that they took so long to come out. I also like the cover arts. Honestly, so much better than either the covers for the individual volumes, Z (outside of the BR season sets, which did have nice covers), or Kai's sets.
Also, I've been told that apparently some people have had problems with this, but most of the discs in my steelbook sets have minor scratches on them & 1 disc in the 3rd set had fingerprints smudged on 1 of the discs for no reason. I didn't take the discs out of the holders until tonight, so all of that was from when they packaged the things. It's stupid.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Crunchyroll Home Release Thread
The sad thing is that knowing Crunchyroll, I wouldn't be surprised if the Walmart release is a limited thing like the Kai Part double bundle DVD releases and that we eventually do get an official season set release from them. Since they've milked Z to death, now they're moving on to Super (even though they can't milk it with remasters like with Z so we just get bundle sets and steelbooks with new cover arts). It's kind of frustrating, but it is what it is.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Crunchyroll Home Release Thread
So it would seem crunchyroll is worse than funimation to put out releases?
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Crunchyroll Home Release Thread
Which is weird because you'd expect them to just inherit the similar quality that FUNi had for years because of the merger.

Based on the images, these might be slipcovers with two individually-cased Parts in them?
Even if CR releases larger general-release sets, I don't think they'll call them "Seasons" as Funi stopped inventing seasons for their shows shortly after Kai V1 finished.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Crunchyroll Home Release Thread
I think Funimation decided years ago that they were not doing "collection" or "season" sets for Super and Crunchyroll is following suit. I'm confident these Wal-mart sets are the closest we'll get for a long time, and they only really exist because.. it's Wal-mart. It's just like the exclusive 3-"Season" sets they have for Z.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Crunchyroll Home Release Thread
It wouldn't be the first time they've done that for DB. I remember years ago they did that for the Orange Bricks where they had made bigger slipcovers for 2 seasons at once except for the 9th set, obviously. I believe they were sold exclusively at Wal-Mart too. That's where I remember seeing them when I went there as a kid with my dad.LostTimeLord wrote: ↑Wed Oct 26, 2022 7:16 pm Based on the images, these might be slipcovers with two individually-cased Parts in them?

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Crunchyroll Home Release Thread
They just don't do that for best selling titles anymore because they know they can get you to pay. How long ago did Demon Slayer season 1 come out and they still exclusively sell it in two halves. Same with Fruits Basket Season 2 not receiving a single season box set when they saw how great season 1 was selling. Why waste the money and make the old units obsolete when the consumer is willing to pay almost twice as much.Footlong Shoe wrote: ↑Wed Oct 26, 2022 7:21 pm I think Funimation decided years ago that they were not doing "collection" or "season" sets for Super and Crunchyroll is following suit. But we still get collections for shows like One Piece, which is also popular, remember. Even after the Crunchyroll merger. So, it seems kinda random which shows they still do that with.MuscleRobo wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 10:28 amThey just don't do that for best selling titles anymore because they know they can get you to pay. It's exactly what you said. This guy Radar Force has the whole set https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oE3x6vkmIiQ. I just ordered the whole set from eBay by winning an auction and only paid about 100 dollars for all of them. If what you guys are saying is true and Crunchyroll doesn't do traditional season sets, these are the next best thing. And my Walmarts are sold out of these. I also really like the idea of finally owning Super season sets and the covers are amazing. Besides, I want to keep my Super steelbooks in pristine condition. And getting Parts 1-10 individually is kind of a risk now because there's a lot of bootlegs of those now.LostTimeLord wrote: ↑Wed Oct 26, 2022 7:16 pm Based on the images, these might be slipcovers with two individually-cased Parts in them?

Anyway, if CR really is done releasing Super, then this thread will soon become obsolete. That is until a new series is announced OR Super continues as the anime brand name. If the Super name is retired, I'll just create a new home release thread. But if they keep going with Super, I'll update this thread whenever I get wind of a new release.
Speaking of which, Super Hero when???
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Crunchyroll Home Release Thread
Honestly, those cases look pretty slick. If I'd known about them, I might've probably ordered those instead of the steelbooks just for convenience sake & having normal BR cases, but I can't say I hate having the steelbooks. I just hate that some of the discs have scratches on them for no reason.mecha3000 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 10:35 pm It's exactly what you said. Yeah, I've actually known about the dude for a while. His channel is kind of like a cool compendium to follow to stay updated on Dragon Ball releases (even though I found out about the Super Season Sets before his video even released). Also, my Super Season Sets arrived and are now on my shelf next to my steelbooks. Also, when it comes to the scratches you're talking about, I came across some myself, but since I ordered from Crunchyroll and eventually Amazon, I was able to swap out the discs and cases that had scratches on them. That's the only benefit that came with ordering from Crunchyroll.
