You know, the golden hair is beautiful why keep mystic it never made sense to not turn Ssj. Toriyama was bored and ending the show when giving him this mode because it fitted his character.Gohan didn't need to get angry anymore like he did when he was a child, a good ending for this character. But this Is maybe a new beginning you never know.

As far as the "Gohan going SSJ instead of Ultimate/Mystic state", people are taking this thing way out of hand. In the situations where Gohan transforms into his Ultimate/Mystic state is doesn't really even matter because every new villain introduced in the series post-Majin Buu has been insanely overpowered. Hirudegarn in Wrath Of The Dragon, every major villain in GT and Beerus in Battle Of Gods. I will admit, it is pretty damn dumb to see Gohan power up into a weaker state, but quite a few Dragon Ball Z movie have been very guilty in this regard as well. Cooler Revenge being the worst offender, that it is pretty much plot induced stupidity on Goku's part why he didn't immediately curb stomp Cooler when he damn well knew he could have. Bojack Unbound is also another major offender. After the first time Gohan became SSJ2, he (somehow) gained the ability to transform into a SSJ2 almost instantaneously in the manga. Why didn't Gohan pull that kind of stunt before he was being crushed to death by Bojack? Because the plot demanded it.

Yeah, this pretty much sums it up.
Vegeta: “Unfortunately, it seems he got carried away in peace and didn’t do any significant training. Our powers are higher than his now…Though I suppose there’s no telling what would happen if he snapped and went into a frenzy… though we can do the exact same thing, just like anybody, so never mind, this statement had no point. Heck, I can get like five or ten times stronger from rage at a minor offense, way more than that little punk Gohan. Actually, my rage boost totally makes his look like shit. But I'm not going to use it until like five years from now.". There was once a quote Randomguy wrote that really sums up the matter when Vegeta mentions Gohan's hidden power in the Boo saga (And alters it in a funny way). I'd really like that quote to show up again.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

That's the quote. Don't know why everyone doesn't just do this since it's so doable.RandomGuy96 wrote:Classic Rocketman.Rocketman wrote:Cure Dragon 255 wrote:Then the complaints should be "Why didnt Goku let GOHAN be SSG?"

Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

We've already had a thread on that. Moreover, that quote entirely ignored my repeated suggestion that the existence of a rage boost and sufficient volume of a rage boost to make it worth making use of are not the same thing. But this isn't the thread for that.

Admittedly, I think the BoG thing was alright but in this movie it seems Gohan is fighting in it. I'm going with the intrepretation that his SSJ form still has the same amount of power as his mystic form. I hope they at least have a one liner in the movie explaining it tho. Hopefully he didn't lose mystic because I don't want my favorite character being reduced to even more fodder.
BTW what's the official name for his power up?

Canon is Jaco, Dragon Ball except for EoZ, Dragon Ball Super anime and manga (both are separate canons)

But not exactly the same appeal. Shin Gohan has more agressive eyes, though the shape of his revived form is clearly different from his pre-kaioshin-power-up.Metalwario64 wrote:Like I said, even in the end of the series, when he's revived, and even after the time skip, he still has his ultimate form eyes.
I would like to point this is just a theory.

Well, it WAS peacetime, so it could be a similar case to FPSSJ where we have a "relaxed" version of the closed eyes design.Hugo Boss wrote: But not exactly the same appeal. Shin Gohan has more agressive eyes, though the shape of his revived form is clearly different from his pre-kaioshin-power-up.
