Lyrics in English
ヤケに晴れた こんな日には
Yake ni hareta kon’na hi ni wa
On exceedingly bright days like this
君のこと 憶い出すだろう
Kimi no koto omoidasu darō
I suppose I’ll remember you
どんな嵐のときでも この碧い空を見るために
Don’na arashi no toki de mo kono aoi sora o miru tame ni
Because we always continued fighting
僕ら いつも 闘い続けたから
Boku-ra itsu mo tatakaitsuzuketa kara
Through any stormy times, to see this blue sky
僕らには 別れはないさ
Boku-ra ni wa wakare wa nai sa
For us, there’s no such thing as goodbye
離れてたって 心ひとつ
Hanarete ’tatte kokoro hitotsu
Even if we’re apart, our hearts are one
力合わせて開いた この明日(あす)への重い扉を
Chikara awasete hiraita kono asu1 e no omoi tobira
The heavy door to tomorrow that we opened by combining our strength
開け放ち さあ 行こう もっと未来(あす)
Akehanachi sā ikō motto asu2 e
Flinging it wide open, now, let’s go further towards tomorrow
じゃあね!必ずまた逢おう
Jā ne! Kanarazu mata aō
See you later! Let’s meet again for sure
「元気」抱えてまた逢おう
“Genki” kakaete mata aō
Embracing our “energy”, let’s meet again
ずっと You’re my friends
Zutto You’re my friends
Forever, you’re my friends
いつも We’re friends
Itsu mo We’re friends
Always, we’re friends
ピッカピカの希望を THANK YOU!
Pikka-pika no kibō o THANK YOU!
THANK YOU for these sparkling hopes!
()を閉じれば いつも逢える
Me3 o tojireba itsu mo aeru
If I close my eyes, I can always see you
晴れやかな 君の笑顔と
Hareyaka na kimi no egao to
Along with your brilliant smile
だから寂しい時には この心で君を呼ぶのさ
Da kara sabishii toki ni wa kono kokoro de kimi o yobu no sa
So when I’m feeling lonely, I’ll call to you with my heart
そしてまた 歩き出す 光る未来(あす)
Soshite mata arukidasu hikaru asu4 e
Then I’ll start walking again, towards the shining future
じゃあね!いつかここで逢おう
Jā ne! Itsu ka koko de aō
See you later! Let’s meet here someday
「勇気」しょってここで逢おう
“Yūki” shotte koko de aō
Carrying our “courage”, lets meet here
ずっと You’re my friends
Zutto You’re my friends
Forever, you’re my friends
いつも We’re friends
Itsu mo We’re friends
Always, we’re friends
一億の友情を THANK YOU!
Ichi-oku no yūjō o THANK YOU!
THANK YOU for a hundred million1 friendships!
じゃあね!必ずまた逢おう
Jā ne! Kanarazu mata aō
See you later! Let’s meet again for sure
「元気」抱えてまた逢おう
“Genki” kakaete mata aō
Embracing our “energy”, let’s meet again

Always, we’re friends
ピッカピカの希望を THANK YOU!
Pikka-pika no kibō o THANK YOU!
THANK YOU for these sparkling hopes!

1 The kanji for “asu” (“tomorrow”) is supplied with furigana in order to disambiguate its pronunciation (it can also be read as “ashita” or “myōnichi”).
1 This “hundred million” presumably refers to the figurative “hundred million people” of Japan (though the population is actually greater than that). This makes the most sense when one reads it as a goodbye to the series’ fans: as the final song in Final Bout, “THANK YOU!” was the last original Dragon Ball music until 2004, seven years later.

2 The kanji supplied for “asu” (same as above) read “mirai” (“the future”).

3 The kanji for “me” (“eyes”) is more commonly read “hitomi” (literally “pupils”, but also figuratively “eyes”).

4 The kanji supplied for “asu” (as in notes 1 and 2, above) once again read “mirai” (as in note 2).
