Arc Synopsis
Three years later, he once again reunites with his friends at the Tenka’ichi Budōkai. Calling himself Ma Junior, Piccolo Daimaō’s offspring appears. Goku’s first opponent was Anonymous, whose real identity was Chi-Chi, the daughter of Gyūmaō. Keeping the promise that he had made to her long ago, Goku marries Chi-Chi after the match. Yamcha fights the mystery man Shen, and unbelievably loses to the clumsy man. Goku realizes that Shen’s true identity is actually God. Safely passed through the first round, Goku and Tenshinhan clash in the semi-finals. Having trained under God, Goku had powered up far beyond Tenshinhan’s imagination. Goku easily defeats Tenshinhan and advances to the finals. And then the battle of Ma Junior versus God begins!
God tries to seal Piccolo with the Mafūba, but instead he himself was imprisoned by Piccolo’s Reverse-Mafūba. And so, the fateful final round begins. After rescuing God from Piccolo’s giant body, Goku commenced a relentless attack. Piccolo took great damage from his Super Kamehameha. Just as the countdown was ending, Piccolo’s attack pierced Goku’s right shoulder. To finish the match, Piccolo fires a ki blast at the immobile Goku!
Having dodged the attack by a hair’s breadth, Goku rams Piccolo with all his weight from high in the sky to win the tournament. Goku heals with a senzu, and gives Piccolo a senzu as well, vowing to fight him again. And thus, turning down God’s offer to succeed him, he flies off with Chi-Chi!
