Listed below are the opening themes used throughout the Dragon Ball franchise, including both the movies and television series. The themes are listed by series and then further by order of appearance. The basic information for each theme has been listed, although more detailed information is available for each by clicking their respective listing.
Although there have been fewer opening themes used compared to the franchise’s numerous ending themes, it should be noted that the majority of the opening themes have multiple animations. Each new animation remained almost the same as the previous, but with minor scenes changed to reflect the current story. By modern standards, the original broadcast series of the Dragon Ball franchise had very few opening themes, as most series now typically change opening themes and animation roughly every 25-30 episodes.
The opening theme for Dragon Ball Kai, “Dragon Soul”, is the first new opening theme to the series’ since “Bit by Bit, You’re Charming My Heart” was used for Dragon Ball GT in 1996.
