Arc Synopsis
After missing victory by a hair’s breadth, Goku once again sets out on a journey to find his grandfather’s Four-Star Ball. When he defeats Captain Silver of the Red Ribbon Army, who tried to steal the first Dragon Ball that he found, Goku again begins collecting the Dragon Balls. Goku crashes a plane and his life is saved by a girl from Jingle Village. Learning that the village mayor has been taken by the Red Ribbon Army, Goku assaults the massive Muscle Tower. Waiting for Goku on the tower’s fourth floor was Master Sergeant Murasaki.
Master Sergeant Murasaki brings out his final trump card, Artificial Human No. 8. However, the kind-hearted No. 8 had no will to fight Goku. After being saved by Goku when Master Sergeant Murasaki was about to blow him up, No. 8 teams up with Goku to rescue the mayor. After defeating General White, Goku heads off to West City to get his radar fixed by Bulma. After fixing his radar, for some reason Bulma comes along with him on his adventure. Goku and co. borrow a submarine from Kame-Sen’nin and head to a sea-bottom cave, where they are attacked by General Blue.
The sea-bottom cave that they got lost in searching for the Dragon Balls turned out to be a secret pirate base. Goku and co. somehow manage to escape from both the pirates’ trap and General Blue’s evil hand to obtain a Dragon Ball. Having returned safely to Kame House, Goku and co. have their Dragon Balls stolen by General Blue, who they thought had died in the cave. After he had retrieved his Dragon Balls with the help of the citizens of Penguin Village, Goku headed for the Karin Holy Land in search of the next ball. There lived the father and son Bora and Upa, who protect the holy land.
Hired by the Red Ribbon Army, the amazingly powerful assassin Tao Pai-pai comes to the Karin Holy Land. He kills Bora, defeats Goku, and steals the Dragon Balls. In order to steal back the Dragon Balls and restore Bora to life, Goku climbs to the peak of Karin Tower, where it’s said that a sage lives. After being trained by the sage cat Karin, Goku crushes Tao Pai-pai. Then, in order to obtain the remaining Dragon Balls, he heads for Red Ribbon Army Headquarters. He defeats Black, who had become commander, and annihilates the Red Ribbon Army.
