It's interesting because apparently the Funimation and
Westwood dubs aired there, although I haven't heard anything concrete about the series in Finland, but maybe fans there wanted a local dub rather than an English one, and that's why they took it upon themselves to create their own adaptation.
I wonder where did that "
It aired the English dub from the United Kingdom for several years." bit from the Finland section of the Every Country topic come from because
Lozjudai has clearly said that the English dub of Z aired there was FUNimation's.
Well because Funimation is the most well known company attached to English Dragon Ball I think most people assume any dub in that language is Funimation. Even in the UK there are apparently fans that swear they grew up with the Funimation dub, which wouldn't be incorrect for the first 107 edited episodes and the initial run of episodes 238-260. This is likely because all the games since 2003 have used the Texas cast, leading to a Mandela effect sort of situation. The Westwood dub is also the only dub of the series which I could be described as the "UK English dub".
The only evidence I can find of Z airing in Finland at this moment is
this video where we can clearly hear Stephanie Nadolny as Gohan. Of course we know Westwood never dubbed the Freeza arc, so if Z aired in English in Finland it would have been Funimation's dub for this particular part of the series. The real question is when Finland reached
Goku's Special Technique, if AB Groupe was distributing dubs to them it almost certainly would have been the Westwood dub, unless Funimation-dubbed episodes were licensed for a limited time like when CNX originally aired the Fusion saga. The only other explanation I can think of for the Funimation dub being used is if Plus Licens operated independently of AB, but I have my doubts about that, as if they used the Funimation's dub in its entirety for TV why would the Big Green dubs be released on DVD rather than having consistency between the TV airings and home releases.
Hopefully there are more Finnish fans out there who can confirm. I'd love to talk to them.
