Silly DVD Question...

Post by NewDebuJin » Mon Feb 23, 2004 10:36 pm

Is Mr. Satan still Mr. Satan on the Uncut Japanese Subtitled DVDs, or did they leave it at Hercules (Or whatever)?

Thanks in advance! :P :)

TMNT owns over all!

But yeah, just the censored dub calls him Hercule
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

The uncensored dub doesn't change a frame of animation from the actual episodes, I believe. Therefore it would be a bit ludicrous for people to call him "Hercule" while everyone is holding up banner's saying "Mr Satan".

Ya, but it's been done in anime before. Don't forget all the signs written in kanji in that first episode of Pokemon.

From what I understand / remember, the "uncut" dub has his full name as "Hercule Satan." For the most part, in the "uncut" dub, they refer to him as "Mr. Satan," and in the TV dub, "Hercule."

And almost every episode after.

Yeah, true. But the uncut dub uses exactly the same video file as the subtitled original. Therefore they can't paint over the signs without creating two video streams, which they don't seem to want to do (thankfully).

I think I remember in the Blue Waters dub on T.V., hearing Gohan at least once saying "Hercule Satan". Psy, do you remember or not?

The way they did that "Hercule Satan" thing seems like they did it that way as to not confuse guys who were watching the Cell Games and now bought the video/dvd.

But, the episodes I'm referring to are on the Great Saiyaman tapes that were put out before the uncut Cell ones, so people couldn't get confused, since they hadn't seen those uncut yet.

EDIT: Sorry guys it was the uncut Funimation dub I was thinking of, so never mind! :P

I haven't heard it yet, but they could of. Toonami UK might let them get away with it, but I'm not sure. They say "Hades", but not "Hell". I can see them saying "devil", but "satan"? Hmm...I'm not sure. Any idea which episode?

Don't want to act like I'm some Mod or anything, but no sig images are allowed... especially ones that tall.
