Chapter Synopsis

They stare each other down, then Yamcha flies at him with a kick, but Tenshinhan blocks it, and Yamcha is just barely able to dodge his jabs. Tenshinhan kicks him, and Yamcha does some back flips. Tenshinhan flies at him, kicking off the wall, and punches at him, but Yamcha jumps up out of the way. So, Tenshinhan flies up after him, but Yamcha dodges his attacks and hits him down towards the ground. They each land, and the audience is impressed as the two of them each wonder about the other.

Yamcha announces his Shin Rōga Fū-Fū Ken, and Tenshinhan thinks it sounds interesting. They fly at each other, and Tenshinhan manages to block all of his attacks, and hits Yamcha hard in the gut, knocking him down. But Yamcha gets back up again, and prepares for his next attack. Kuririn wonders what he’s doing, and Goku says it’s the Kamehameha, and Jackie Chun is intrigued. “Ka…me…ha…me…ha!!!” Yamcha fires it off, and Tenshinhan folds his hands in front of himself with his index fingers out, preparing to take the Kamehameha head on.

Chapter Notes

Explanatory Notes

  • The second panel of the first page is reused from the previous chapter, with the announcer moved to the ground next to the ring, and Yamcha and Tenshinhan replacing the announcer in the ring proper. This panel will be altered and reused two more in Chapters 119 and 122. In Chapter 119 in particular, this will cause a continuity error.

Author’s Comment

  • Each issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump features short comments from the various series’ authors, giving fans a brief insight into their current thoughts, ranging from series-related announcements to trivial happenings in their personal lives. Akira Toriyama’s comments from this issue were:

    太ってる太ってるといわれ、さすがに気になりだした 天気の良い日、少し遠くまで散歩しよう <明>

People keep telling me I’m getting fat, and it’s really starting to get to me. When the weather’s good, I plan on going out for a moderately-lengthy walk. <Akira>

Page Breakdown

The majority of the Dragon Ball series was drawn in black and white, but chapters were occasionally published with color pages. This breakdown notes how many full-color, limited-color, and black-and-white pages appeared in this chapter. As the tankōbon volumes were not released with these colors intact, any color pages shown are taken from the kanzenban release.
