Manga Guide

Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Universe Mission!! is a promotional manga series written and illustrated by Yoshitaka Nagayama, which originally ran in Shueisha’s Saikyō Jump magazine. The series adapts events from story lines original to the Super Dragon Ball Heroes arcade game. Universe Mission!! succeeded (and later ran concurrent to for a short period) Nagayama’s own prior Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Dark Demon Realm Mission! series in the same magazine, and was itself subsequently succeeded by Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Big Bang Mission!!!, also by Nagayama.

Universe Mission!! began in the May 2018 issue of Saikyō Jump, and ran to completion in the March 2020 issue. The series received a collected print edition spanning three volumes. Individual, named chapter titles were not assigned until the collected edition, where they are listed in respective volume’s table of contents.

Yoshitaka Nagayama debuted in a supplemental booklet packed in with the December 2013 issue of Saikyō Jump, with “Dragon Ball Heroes: Rookie Charisma Mission 0” depicting the daily life and “training” of Engineer Yoshito and new Battle Navigators Tsubasa and Momo-chan in a cartoony style. The Charisma Mission series eventually received its own standard serialization in Saikyō Jump beginning in the July 2014 issue, followed by traditional story serials beginning with Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Dark Demon Realm Mission! beginning in the September 2016 issue.

In the Core Area of the Prison Planet, Oren stares at the Universe Seed and says that while it may be huge, he cannot sense any power from it. Hearts tells him the power is on them to gather. The Universe Seed can develop by absorbing the power released during battles. Kamin asks if that is why they were going along with that glasses-guy’s experiment. So is the plan to use that gathered energy to defeat those who stand in their way? Oren wonders if such a plan will work out. Laggs uses her powers to aim shards of glass at him and tells him not to doubt Hearts’ plan, and that his ambition is her whole reason for living. Oren apologizes. From his throne, Zamasu asks what happened to Cumber. Hearts says Cumber appears to have joined the experiment. His power should provide a hefty contribution to the Universe Seed, too. It is time that they got ready… to bring freedom to humanity.
